Andrey Arshavin has returned to Zenit St Petersburg.
The 32-year-old joined Arsenal in 2009, but was not offered a new deal by the club. In 2012 he had a loan spell at Zenit.
"One of the best footballers in Russia of the last decade is returning to his home city," says the official statement.
Arshavin, who made just eight appearances for 'The Gunners' last season, has signed a two-year deal.
"We have to remember that Arshavin is a product of Zenit." said Alexei Miller, chief executive of Gazprom.
"And I think it right that a product of Zenit finishes his career at his native club. Arshavin is a great Russian footballer and a great Petersburg sportsman."
