Apple iOS 9 Leak Confirms Biggest iPhone 6S Change

iPhone 6 (right) vs Galaxy S6 – Samsung’s upgrades have put pressure on the iPhone 6S

Curious what will be the biggest change between the upcoming iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus and the current iPhones? Now we know…
An exciting leak from the usually rock solid 9to5Mac has revealed six upcoming features in iOS 9, one of which will forever change how we use iPhones and iPads.

Force Touch Support Is In iOS 9
For the uninitiated Force Touch was launched with the Apple Watch and has also now made it into the MacBook Pro range. It enables the screen (in the case of the Watch) or the touchpad (in the case of the MacBooks) to differentiate between the pressure of touches with stronger presses recognised as new commands or shortcuts.
iOS 9 will bring this to the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus (as previously speculated) with 9to5Mac saying it will offer contextually useful new features similar to those seen on the Watch and MacBooks. These include:
  • Pressure sensitive fast forwarding in media players
  • One touch dictionary definitions when typing
  • One touch new calendar entries in the Calendar app
  • Instant dropping of new pins on Maps
While not mentioned, an obvious integration would also be using Force Touch with the camera to enable burst mode shooting or toggling between camera and video modes. Being built into iOS 9, Force Touch will also come to future iPads and Apple is also expected to open up Force Touch to third party app developers, where the possibilities are limitless.
